Becoming Whole Writing Your Healing Story

There is a healing power in the very writing of our stories, whether they are read by others or not.  In the years since I began doing life story workshops in 1988, I have witnessed many times how this writing brings peace and resolution to writers who have been tormented and undermined by stories they have kept within them.

 

Course Objectives

Participant will learn how to:

  • Choose their stories and structure their memoirs

  • Handle the secret stories that are the key to healing

  • Sort out the ethics of writing about their family

  • Use techniques to bring resolution to past events

Linda Joy Myers, Ph.D., a licensed psychotherapist with a practice in the San Francisco Bay Area, teaches memoir writing and leads groups on writing and healing.  Her full-length memoir, Don't Call Me Mother, tells about a generational pattern of abandonment.  Her award-winning poetry, fiction and shorter memoirs have appeared in literary journals.
